Problem

IRIS Business Tax- Invalid IXBRL Computation, Input is not a valid base-64 string

Resolution

You get this error when generating the electronic tax return. This is a known issue in Business Tax which is only affecting the IXBRL Tax comp (not the IXBRL from Accounts Production).

Tax
  1. If you are on version 23.3.0.418 (Help and About) then update to IRIS version 23.3.1.45 and regenerate the tax return
  2. If you still get the error after updating then please apply this workaround (If an urgent submission then do not wait for a fix): Load the client and relevant period: Data Entry, Summary – Computations- Untick ‘for return period’ and select PDF option from the pull down list.
  3. Then save the Tax comp from BT as a PDF.
  4. Generate the CT600 and use the very bottom left Optional Attachments: ‘Select External File’ and click the Magnifying glass to find the PDF file and attach it. Now click OK to generate it and submit.
